What I Learned

What I Learned:

I learned it’s okay to put yourself out there on social media and that when you do, people will have differing opinions and that’s okay too. I also learned to view social media as a tool for public discourse and not just for personal entertainment.

Using social media as it relates to my Grand Challenge will allow me to get the word out about poor birth outcomes for African American babies to the masses in minutes without ever leaving home (lol).

I believe we will see social media used more and more in the field of social work in the near future. For me I will use it to inform and instruct African American women as it relates to my Grand Challenge.

Are there other ways of influencing public discourse that we haven’t covered in the content of the course so far?

Yes, there are other ways of influencing public discourse that we haven’t covered in the content of the course so far. Federalist Papers is one aspect of public discourse. I know it sounds very archaic however, writing a book of essays is certainty one way to create public discourse. Please share your thoughts on Federalist Papers, yay or nay?
